Snow, blast of cold head this way

By the evening commute, northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio are likely to see much colder temperatures and snow.

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana issued a special weather statement that said 1 to 2 inches of snow are possible in some areas and that the colder air and snow are likely to continue through Saturday.

Most of the snow today is expected to fall until 9 p.m., the weather service said. It said roads could be extremely slick, especially in the northwest corner of the state.

Counties in the path of the cold front include:

  • Indiana – Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, Whitley, St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, Fulton, Cass, Miami, Grant, Blackford and Jay.
  • Ohio – Williams, Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Allen.
The weather service said lake-effect snow is expected in northwest Indiana overnight, with up to 2 inches of snow falling per hour in some places.
