Widening project well under way

A crew from R.L. McCoy Inc. of Columbia City works Thursday morning on the bridge that carries St. Joe Center Road over the St. Joseph River. The project’s first phase, set to finish in June, will widen the foundation, add beams, replace the bridge deck and add a trail on the north side. The second phase, set to end in August, will close the eastbound lanes to replace the sidewalk and add lighting.
