CLEVELAND – Three Ohio affiliates of Planned Parenthood plan to merge this summer, partly because of increased heath care costs.
The Plain Dealer of Cleveland reports (http://bit.ly/yu9ViQ) that the merger includes Northeast Ohio and Central Ohio affiliates, and Affiliates of Ohio. The consolidation has been planned for more than a year.
The affiliates will become known as the Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, and will serve 68 of the state’s 88 counties, including those in northwest Ohio.
The merger isn’t expected to impact services, such as testing for sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy tests, Pap tests and breast exams.
A spokesman said board members of the Southwest Ohio Region in Cincinnati have no current plans to join the merger.
