St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, will have a soup cook-off from noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. For $5 for adults and $3 for students, tasters can sample as many of the 25 to 30 soups as they like.

Calvary United Methodist Church, 6301 Winchester Road, will have a spud Sunday dinner from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children 3 to 10, and free for those 2 and younger.

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 4800 S. Calhoun St., will hold a Valentine’s spaghetti dinner and talent show at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 3 to 12 and free for those 2 and younger.

First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., will host author Susan Fox from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

IPFW will host a “University Religious Forum” from noon to 1:15 p.m. Thursday in rooms G-21 and G-21A in Walb Union to discuss what role, if any, a candidate’s religion should play in politics.

Lifetree Café will show a filmed interview with author William Paul Young, who was abused by a New Guinea tribe, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at New Ground Coffee Co., 5925 N. Clinton St.

Shepherd of the City Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Anthony Blvd., is having its fifth annual Hymnfest at 4 p.m. Sunday.
