College prep event next week at Northrop

The Allen County Human Resources Department and Sheriff’s Department will participate in “College GO Night” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Northrop High School.

The event is part of the national PTA Take Your Family to School Week from Sunday through Saturday. It is supported by the Allen County commissioners, who are encouraging parents to become involved in their child’s school.

The event will include a college vendor fair and breakout sessions for families to help prepare their children for secondary education. Families will receive help with financial assistance forms and receive information on student loan programs.

Several businesses and organizations have been invited to talk to students and parents about how to prepare for the job market.

Northrop was one of only two high schools in the country to win a National PTA grant to fund the event.
