No. 8 Ohio State stops Mastodons

Fresh from their upset victory over No. 6 Lewis, IPFW’s men’s volleyball team couldn’t sustain the momentum and lost 3-1 to No. 8 Ohio State on Friday at the Gates Center.

IPFW (6-4, 1-1 MIVA) got off to a rousing start with a 29-27 first-set win over the Buckeyes, hitting .417 with 18 kills and three errors in 36 attacks. But Ohio State (9-4, 1-0) bounced back to win the last three, 25-11, 25-21 and 25-20.

Senior Ivan Matos, the MIVA and Division I-II national player of the week last week, led IPFW with 16 kills.

Shawn Sangrey had 23 kills for Ohio State.
