Hoosiers found no shortage of blame to pass around last week regarding the tragic Indiana State Fair stage collapse.
Fines levied and information released last week indicated that the company that built the stage roof, union workers, the Indiana State Fair Commission, the promoter and possibly even the band Sugarland all had some role in the deadly accident that killed seven people. Sadly, some of those entities reacted by trying to shift blame onto the others.
The commission took a good step last month in deciding to end outdoor concerts and move them indoors to the fairgrounds coliseum. Going forward, the Indiana State Fair Commission clearly must take the leadership role and assume ultimate responsibility for what happens on its property.
