Cattle rustlers hit northwest Ohio farm

DELPHOS, Ohio – Two farmers in northwestern Ohio say rustlers took about a dozen Holstein steers from their farm, and the two are offering a $1,000 reward for information about the theft.

The Lima News reported that the brothers told the Allen County, Ohio, sheriff’s department over the weekend that the animals were taken from their farm west of Delphos, about 50 miles southeast of Fort Wayne.

They said the theft probably happened Feb. 4, when a neighbor told them he’d heard unusual noises.

They said it’s tough to tell when a few cattle are missing among 960 kept in one barn, but they eventually did a head count to confirm it and found 14 were gone.

The newspaper reported that the missing cattle would be worth $7,000 to $10,000 at auction.
