New rental homes are coming up for rent on John Street as part of Renaissance Pointe in southeast Fort Wayne.

A real Renaissance

Where vacant lots once lay barren, new houses are sprouting, part of the aptly named Renaissance Pointe. After years of discussions, revisions and planning, the first of a remarkable 66 single-family homes being built in the southeast neighborhood was open for public view Saturday.

By the end of the month, five homes will be ready for occupancy, and builder Ideal Suburban Homes of Decatur will complete eight in each succeeding month.

For more on why the on-again, off-again Renaissance Pointe housing project is now booming, see Wednesday’s editorial page in print editions of The Journal Gazette, or visit www.journalgazette.net after 3 a.m. Wednesday.
