Pablo Garcia was charged with multiple felonies Monday in connection with an attack and rape of a woman who had tried to barricade her door to prevent Garcia from getting to her.
Garcia, 28, of the 8500 block of Bridgeway Drive, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of rape, criminal deviate conduct, domestic battery and interference with the reporting of a crime, court records said.
A woman known to Garcia told police he came to her apartment about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 6 and was drunk when he kicked away a piece of wood she had used to barricade the front of the door, according to a probable cause affidavit.
After Garcia was in the home, he charged at the woman and grabbed a phone away from her as she tried to call police. He then punched the woman in the back of the head and she began banging on the walls in hopes that someone in the adjoining apartment would hear her and call police, court records said.
The woman then tried to run upstairs and Garcia ran after her, pulling her down the steps by the back of her head. Garcia then forced the woman into a bedroom, where she began yelling at cars in the parking lot through her window, court records said.
Garcia then punched the woman several times and told her to stop screaming, but the woman continued to fight off Garcia.
“Do you never want to walk again? If you don’t stop kicking at me I’m going to break your leg!” Garcia said to the woman, according to court documents.
Garcia then raped the woman and after she pleaded with Garcia, he let her go comfort her 3-week-old son, who was crying in the other room, court records said. The woman also told police she had three young daughters who were in the home at the time of the attack.
Garcia is being held without bond at the Allen County Jail on a hold from immigration.
