INDIANAPOLIS – A crash involving a jackknifed tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 70 near Indianapolis killed one person and closed parts of the highway.
WISH-TV reported (http://bit.ly/zc0kjf) a truck driver had pulled onto the shoulder Tuesday morning while going eastbound on I-70 in Hendricks County, near Monrovia. The driver was standing on the side of the road with a tow truck when another rig jackknifed and hit him.
The standing driver was killed, and the tow truck operator suffered leg and back injuries. The driver operating the jackknifed truck was not injured.
Police did not immediately release the victims’ names.
State police were diverting traffic between exits 37 and 59 on I-70, but hoped to have the roads cleared by 2 p.m.
