BLOOMINGTON – Police in Bloomington say they have contacted authorities in Louisiana about their search for a college student whose disappearance has similarities to that of an Indiana University student who has been missingINDIANAPOLIS — A proposal to allow poker players to deal cards during certain games at charity gambling events is advancing in the Indiana Legislature.
A Senate committee voted unanimously Monday to send the bill to the full Senate for consideration. The proposal has already cleared the House.
Current state law requires professional dealers or volunteers to deal cards during charity gambling events without participating in games. The proposal would allow players to deal during poker games such as Texas Hold 'em, although a worker would have to deal during the final table of a tournament.
Bill sponsor Rep. Robert Cherry of Greenfield says the change will help non-for-profit groups and fraternal organizations more effectively use volunteers at their events.
