Indiana man held after fatal crash with wheelchair

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Southwestern Indiana police are holding an Evansville motorist on drug-related charges following a crash that killed a man who was traveling along a road at night in a motorized wheelchair.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports 27-year-old Bryce Klueh of Evansville was arrested after Tuesday night's crash. He remained jailed without bond Wednesday on preliminary charges of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and causing a death.

Police say Klueh struck and killed the 67-year-old victim moments after another motorist alerted Evansville police to the hazard posed by a man traveling in a wheelchair. The caller told dispatchers the man had no lights on his wheelchair and was difficult to see.

The victim's name hasn't been released by police, pending notification of relatives.
