Campaign Watch

Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett's latest large contribution report is for a $25,000 contribution from hedge-fund operator Daniel S. Loeb, 15 Central Park West in New York City.

BusinessInsider.com reported in 2010 that Loeb's Third Point hedge fund had "taken a short position against for-profit education companies as a result of 'the government's increased willingness to use its regulatory muscle.' "

Statewide candidates must submit campaign contribution reports five times during an election year and twice in a non-election year, unless the contribution exceeds $1,000. Those contributions must be reported within seven days.
