A man claiming to have a gun robbed a south-side drugstore of prescription painkillers, according to a Fort Wayne police report.
The man approached the pharmacy counter in Walgreens at 222 E. Pettit Ave., near Lafayette Street, about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the report said.
Keeping his hands in his pockets, he told employees he had a gun but never displayed one. A pharmacist gave him an undisclosed amount of Opana, a powerful painkiller sought in several recent pharmacy robberies, the report said.
Witnesses told police the robber was wearing a black mask, a tan coat and a black knit hat and that he may have been black with light skin or Hispanic.
He was last seen running north on Calumet Avenue from Soutgate Plaza, the report stated.
