Mastodons drop 7th consecutive game

IPFW’s late-season slide continued Saturday with a 78-69 loss to Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Ky., in a game that was part of the BracketBusters event.

Frank Gaines matched a career-high with 30 points for the Mastodons (10-17), who have lost their last seven games.

Jaron Jones scored 22 for Eastern Kentucky (15-14), and Joshua Jones and D’Mitri Riggs added 17 and 12.

SAINT FRANCIS 94, MT. VERNON NAZARENE 66: In Mount Vernon, Ohio, the No. 24 Cougars (19-11, 10-8 MCC) ended a three-game losing streak in their regular-season finale.

Qadr Owns scored 30 points to lead Saint Francis, and Kevin Dawson had 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Robbie Taylor scored 20 for Mount Vernon (9-21, 3-15).

INDIANA TECH 64, CONCORDIA 64: Antonio Cannon’s free throw with 11 seconds to play was the difference for the No. 19 Warriors (22-6, 12-6 WHAC) in their regular-season finale home win.

Jordan Hickman led Tech with 13 points, and Rodney Barholomew had 11 points and 12 rebounds. Andrew Patrick scored 15 for the Cardinals (14-16, 9-9).

SPRING ARBOR 85, HUNTINGTON 66: In Spring Arbor, Mich., the Foresters (17-13, 9-9 MCC) closed their regular season on a sour note.

Caleb Kennedy scored 28 for Huntington. Rob Hogans led the Cougars (18-12, 9-9) with 21 points.

MANCHESTER 70, EARLHAM COLLEGE 67: In Richmond, Jordan Moss scored 20 and Jason Spindler added 19 as the Trojans (11-14, 9-9 HCAC) closed the regular season with a win.

Ryan Taylor scored 18 for the Quakers (2-23, 2-16).

BALL STATE 71, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 62: In Muncie, Randy Davis scored a career-best 19 points to help the Cardinals (13-12) snap a seven-game losing streak in a BracketBusters game.

The Salukis (8-20) got a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds from Mamadou Seck.

BUTLER 75, INDIANA STATE 54: In Indianapolis, Andrew Smith led the Bulldogs (17-12) to a dismantling of the Sycamores in the BracketBusters game with 12 points.

R.J. Mahurin led the Sycamores (16-12)with 22 points.

IUPUI 84, NICHOLLS ST. 80: In Thibodaux, La., Alex Young scored 25 points as the Jaguars (13-16) led 72-59 with 4:35 remaining and held on despite 10-2 run by the Colonels (8-17), that cut it to 74-69 with 2:50 left in the BracketBusters game.

Christian Siakam and Stephen Thomas scored 14 points each for the Jaguars.

ORAL ROBERTS 62, IPFW 61, OT: The host Mastodons (8-18, 5-10 Summit) lost for the seventh time in eight games. Rachel Mauk scored 15, and Sarah Haluska had 10 points and 10 rebounds for IPFW.

Kevi Luper scored 22 for the Golden Eagles (18-9, 12-4).

MT. VERNON NAZARENE 70, SAINT FRANCIS 48: In Mount Vernon, Ohio, the visiting Cougars ended their regular-season slate with a loss to a team with the same namesake.

Myqueisha Bratton scored 14 and Kayla Mullins added 13 for Saint Francis (18-12, 10-8 MCC). Alexis Harkins had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Nazarene (16-12, 8-10).

ALMA 60, TRINE 53: In Alma, Mich., Sydney Spragg’s 18 points were not enough for the Thunder (11-14, 5-11 MIAA) against the Scots (7-18, 5-11). Trine closed the regular season by losing three of its last four games.

CONCORDIA 81, INDIANA TECH 61: In Ann Arbor, Mich., the Warriors (14-16, 6-12 WHAC) ended regular-season play with a 20-point drubbing.

Simone Russell scored 11 for Tech, while Catherine Heriman led the Cardinals (26-4, 16-2) with 17.

HUNTINGTON 75, SPRING ARBOR 58: The host Foresters (19-9, 11-7 MCC) got 17 points from Pazia Speed and 15 from Allison Greene in their regular-season finale.

Ashley Stelter scored 15 for the Cougars (8-21, 4-14).

MANCHESTER 56, EARLHAM COLLEGE 41: In Richmond, Janelle Moss had 17 points and Alexandra Strakey added 11 in the regular-season finale for the Trojans (17-8, 13-5 HCAC).

Charvone Long scored 10 for the Quakers (4-21, 2-16).
