Darnell Lazare won't be the only representative of the Mad Ants at the NBA D-League All-Star Game festivities this Saturday in Orlando, Fla.
Rookie guard Cameron Jones has been invited to participate in the Shooting Stars competition in which 12 D-League players will be divided into four teams of three, playing in a two-round timed shooting event.
There will be six numbered shooting locations of increasing difficulty, with each team attempting to make all shots in numeric order in the fastest time.
The shooting competition, as well as a dunk contest, will follow the D-League All-Star Game, which will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Orlando Convention Center.
Lazare, the Ants' 6-foot-8 forward who averages 18.3 points and 7.5 rebounds, will play for the East Conference team. Walker Russell Jr. was also named to the team, but was recently called up to the NBA Detroit Pistons.
Because of the All-Star Game break, the Ants, who play at Iowa on Tuesday, will be at Erie on Feb. 28, and will return to Memorial Coliseum on March 2 against Dakota.
