The good news for Rep. Bob Morris, R-Fort Wayne, is that his statements against the Girl Scouts came after the filing deadline.
That means he is unopposed in the House District 84 GOP primary.
But he does have a general election opponent -- 60-year-old Democrat Lee Jordan of Fort Wayne.
Jordan said he decided to run instead of just complaining about the bitter partisan divide that has developed in the state and country.
"There is no common sense anymore in government and we have taken a position either too far to the right or too far to the left. No one seems to want to get to the middle and compromise," he said.
Jordan retired from NIPSCO a few years ago and now runs his own restaurant.
He was appalled at Morris' attack on the Girl Scouts -- a group he said is a good moral character builder for youth.
"I'm flabbergasted," Jordan said. "He's too far to the right. When you run out of things attacking the middle class or the workers you start to attack other things, including children. Instead of focusing on jobs and quality of life this guy goes after the Girl Scouts.
"I hate for anybody to do something this silly. He represents the people."
