FORT WAYNE – The National Weather Service in northern Indiana says northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio are likely to see more record-breaking heat on Monday.After indicating Tuesday the town council will not take up efforts to impeach Huntertown’s clerk-treasurer, the council president said Wednesday that no decision has been made.
Council President Jim Fortman said he received several calls from residents wanting to know why the council was dropping the issue after Tuesday night’s meeting, when no action was taken.
“Nothing has been determined either way,” Fortman said.
The petition signed by more than 100 residents supported the impeachment of Huntertown Clerk-Treasurer Dave Rudolph.
It was presented two weeks ago by Jacquelyn Tracey, who asked the council to lead the effort to remove Rudolph, who has been ill and unable to work since October.
On Wednesday, Tracey said she has no intention of pursuing the impeachment on her own.
“I believe the cost to the town in not pursuing it will be greater than pursuing it,” Tracey said in an email. “My intentions were to let the council know how residents felt about this issue.”
Fortman contacted The Journal Gazette on Wednesday in an effort to clarify his position.
“The issue has not been dropped,” Fortman said, “but neither does that mean we will pursue it.”
