So much for playing 1 man short

The Komets lead the Arizona Sundogs 2-1 after one period at Memorial Coliseum. Fort Wayne got goals from Artem Podshendyalov on a rebound and Frankie DeAngelis on a power play. Arizona's Olivier Proulx scored with .8 seconds left in the period, beating Gerry Festa on a rebound.

So much for this story, in which the Komets said they barely remembered the last game with the Sundogs. There was a fight on the opening faceoff between Stephon Thorne and Kevin Petovello. (Click here to see it.) Thorne got a game misconduct for removing equipment in the fight.

That meant the Komets were back to being two men short of an 18-player lineup for, basically, the fifth straight game.

There was another fight, between David Starenky and Adam Smyth, who left with what looked like a groin injury.
