It's not only a test

If you aren't an Indiana educator or parent of a child currently in school, you might not realize just how many tests our schools are administering.

ISTEP+, the granddaddy of Indiana's high-stakes tests, is coming up next month, but this chart from the Department of Ed illustrates how pervasive testing has become in our classrooms. Not every student is subject to every one of the tests, but it certainly offers a glance at what educators are juggling and, more important, the business opportunity it offers to the corporate interests fueling its expansion.
