Davonte Neal, who signed a national letter of intent with Notre Dame last week, withdrew from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral High School, according to the Arizona Republic.
The four-star receiver needs to complete spring course to graduate and will attend Phoenix Central, according to the report.
Irish coach Brian Kelly told the South Bend Tribune he didn't have an update on the situation, but he believed Neal would take care of his academics and be able to enroll at the university.
The 5-foot-10 Neal waited nearly three weeks after the Feb. 1 national signing day when he announced his decision to play for Notre Dame last Tuesday.
He was named a Parade All-American after catching 62.passes for 1,113 yards with 16 touchdowns and running for 1,317 yards with 14 TDs as a senior. He also had five touchdowns on kick returns.
Neal was the 17th player in Notre Dame's 2012 recruiting class.
