FWCS school lottery moves to March 23

Statement issued Tuesday:

The Fort Wayne Community Schools lottery for all grade levels will be held Friday, March 23, at the Grile Administrative Center, 1200 S. Clinton St.

The lottery for middle and high school transfer applications was originally set for Friday, March 2, but technology upgrades have delayed the processing of the applications. On March 23, the elementary lottery will be at 9 a.m. in the Grile Boardroom with the middle and high school lottery taking place at 1 p.m. The lotteries are open to the public.

FWCS allows parents to submit transfer applications for their children if they want to attend a school other than the one to which they are assigned based on their home address. Applications were due Friday, Feb. 24. If there are more applications than spots available at any grade level and at any school, a lottery is held to determine placement.

Parents with questions about the lottery process should call Student Services at 467-2120.
