Concordia boys trying to follow girls' success

Maybe the good karma is leftover for the Concordia boys basketball team.

The Cadets girls team won the Garrett Sectional and will play for a Class 3A state championship Saturday against Mt. Vernon.

The Cadet boys took a step closer to a sectional title at the same sectional locale Tuesday with a 99-83 opening round win over Leo.

"Our boys see what (the girls) have done, and they desire that for themselves as well," Concordia boys coach Josh Eggold said.

If Concordia does manage to beat Garrett on Friday in the semifinals and advance to the sectional title game, it will be moved to 7 p.m. Monday because of the Cadet girls playing in the state title game Saturday.

The Cadet girls play Mt. Vernon at 6 p.m. Saturday at Indiana State in Terre Haute.
