Girl Scout issue won’t die

Morris

The Indiana House Democratic caucus said today that Rep. Bob Morris, R-Fort Wayne, should introduce legislation honoring the Girl Scouts after spending last week “absurdly attacking them.”

The Democrats launched an online petition calling on Rep. Morris to introduce the legislation and created the “Bob Morris Fights the Girl Scouts” Facebook page to hold him accountable.

Morris got national attention - and not the good kind – last week after saying in a letter to his Republican colleagues that the Girl Scouts are a “radicalized organization” that supports abortion and gays.

He refused to sign on to the Scouts’ 100-year anniversary resolution, and later apologized.

“As the Girl Scouts would teach us: simply apologizing is easy, but doing the right thing is hard,” said House Democrat Leader Patrick Bauer. “Rep. Morris needs to step up and do the right thing - honor the Girl Scouts.”
