Justin Cohn, left, goalie Doug Teskey and Joe Kocur try to figure out how much time is left in the game and if they'll have adequate oxygen to survive.

That was a blast

Mission accomplished.

I just didn't want to take a header on Memorial Coliseum ice, and I didn't while refereeing the game between the Komets Legends and the Detroit Red Wings Alumni, won 8-5 by the Red Wings.

Thanks for the boos. That's a badge of honor in Fort Wayne, right? I would say it wasn't quite a Jim Duhart boo. But it was better than a boo for Adam Russo.

Normally, the thing I feel worst about is if I get in the way of the play. That happened and resulted in Joey Kocur hip-checking me. How cool is that?

As for the goal I waved off in the third, it wasn't even close, even if Dustin Virag thought it was enough to put me in a headlock. Wait, why didn't I give him a misconduct? I told Virag, "You never did shoot it hard enough." Well, except for that Cup-winning goal in 2003.

Anyway, I will have a story on all this Sunday, which I think you will enjoy.

Thanks to the Komets for letting me participate.
