Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and his wife, Charlene, were on the guest list for Wednesday's state dinner at the White House for British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha.
Lugar is the ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Invited to the dinner along with numerous government dignitaries were actor George Clooney, billionaire investor Warren Buffett and Irish golfer Rory McIlroy. Singer John Legend and British folk band Mumford & Sons were scheduled to perform.
