Ants down, but don't blame Macklin

The Mad Ants trail Erie 46-40 at halftime Thursday at Memorial Coliseum, but it's not because of newly-acquired center Vernon Macklin.

Macklin, who came to the Ants via the Detroit Pistons, has 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor, 14 rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists.

The combination of Macklin and Charles Garcia, both 6-foot-10, give the Ants a more formidable front line to go with Ron Howard, Cam Jones and Anthony Goods.

Former Mad Ant Marvin Phillips has 10 points for the BayHawks at the half.
