Woman in motorcycle-Jeep crash dies

FORT WAYNE – A woman critically injured Wednesday in a collision between a Jeep and a motorcycle has died, according to Fort Wayne police.

The woman was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by Alexander J. Waterman, 20, of Churubusco. Police said he remained hospitalized Thursday morning in serious condition.

The Allen County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Breanna "Bre" Walker, 20, of Fort Wayne.

She died of blunt force trauma, the coroner's office said, noting that she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Her death has been ruled an accident.

Investigators said they believe the motorcycle was going east in the 5900 block of Illinois Road about 5 p.m. as the Jeep was trying to turn left from the westbound lanes toward the Meijer store.

While the Jeep was starting to make the turn, the motorcycle entered the intersection and the vehicles collided, police said.

Waterman and Walker were thrown from the motorcycle.

The driver of the Jeep was identified Thursday morning as Mary C. Houser, 57, of Columbia City. She was listed in good condition Wednesday, but her current condition wasn't available Thursday.

The crash remains under investigation.
