Komets fail to clinch playoff berth

The Komets squandered their chance to clinch a playoff spot, giving up a two-goal lead and losing 4-3 to the Laredo Bucks on Adam Rivet’s power-play goal in overtime at Memorial Coliseum on Friday night.

The mood in the Komets’ locker room was dour, especially after they failed to score on several great opportunities late in the game.

Defenseman Dustin Molle, who returned from a 30-game absence with a groin injury, lasted only one period. Coach Al Sims believes he’s out for the rest of the season.
