OK, now this makes sense to me.
If Peyton Manning really, really, really wants to get to a Super Bowl one more before he retires/the neck gives out, there's nowhere more set up for him than San Francisco. The 49ers were one botched punt return away from the Super Bowl last year with Alex Smith playing quarterback. Think a healthy Peyton Manning can't get them over the hump?
(Alex Smith, by the way, is talking right now to the Dolphins, who've already blown their shot at both Manning and Packers backup Matt Flynn, another presumptive Fish. So you can see the decks starting to clear for the Niners to bring in Manning).
Anyway .... if getting another ring is the thing that most moves the needle now for Manning, the Niners are a better bet than Denver and Tennessee combined, no matter what those two teams are willing to do for him. Iif he chooses one of the other two over Frisco, we'll know there's more that motivates him at this stage in his career.
I'm betting Niners.
