Komets defenseman Frankie DeAngelis was named to the CHL's All-League team Monday. He has 17 goals and 42 points in 62 games this season.
"Absolutely, this is a big honor for me," said DeAngelis, 26. "It's something I'll look back on after my career is over and be really proud of. It's not the overall goal we're looking for – we want to win a championship – but it is really nice to be acknowledged like this."
The team was chosen by league coaches.
Rapid City's Riley Weselowski was the other All-CHL defenseman, and Rapid City forward Shawn Limpright, Quad City's Brandon Marino and Evansville's Todd Robinson were alos named to the team. Mark Guggenberger of Texas was the honored goaltender, beating out Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher.
DeAngelis is also one of five finalists for the CHL's Most Outstanding Defenseman award, which will be announced Friday.
DeAngelis made the IHL's All-Rookie Team in 2010 and was chosen as the team's top defenseman last year.
"I do really feel like I've improved this season," DeAngelis said. "I've really tried to become a more consistent player offensively and defensively."
