Samuelsson is fundraiser chef

Chef Marcus Samuelsson will be in Fort Wayne on Aug. 14 for this year’s “Blessings in a Backpack” fundraiser.

Samuelsson will prepare a meal using local produce for guests at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club to raise money for the Fort Wayne chapter of the national program, which provides weekend meals to children by filling a backpack with food.

Samuelsson is the chef and owner of the Red Rooster Harlem in New York City and three other restaurants. He also won the James Beard Foundation “Best International Cookbook” in 2006 for “The Soul of New Cuisine.” He appears on “Top Chef Masters,” several Food Network shows and the “Today” show.
