TROTWOOD, Ohio -- This game was on the edge of being out of control all night. Now it is.
Fort Wayne's Brent Henley has been tossed and I'm sure will get a suspension for his actions in the second period at Hara Arena, where the Komets and Gems are tied at 1.
He was cross-checked by Brett Lutes and went down. After Chris Auger grabbed Lutes and then Damien Surma, Henley got up and sucker-punched Surma and then realized he had the wrong guy. He then pummeled Lutes in front of the Dayton bench and, allegedly, spit on him. He got 22 minutes in penalties, including a match penalty, though the referees didn't assess anything for the Gems' bench trying to get at Henley and possibly shoving the lineman in the process. Wild stuff.
Frankie DeAngelis' power-play goal tied it at 1.
