Davis' prep team falls in tourney

Former South Side standout Rapheal Davis and his sixth-seeded LaPorte La Lumiere prep school boys basketball team fell to No. 3 Montverde (Fla.) 62-54 in the quarterfinals of the ESPN National High School Basketball Invitational in North Bethesda, Md.

Davis had 17 points and nine rebounds. He had five offensive rebounds and four defensive rebounds.

The 6-foot-5 Purdue recruit was 4 of 13 from the field, including 0 of 2 on three-pointers. He was 9 of 13 from the free-throw line.

Davis had six turnovers and zero assists.
