Fort Wayne-area jobless rate drops

FORT WAYNE – Unemployment in metro Fort Wayne retreated to 8.4 percent in February, compared to 9 percent in January, an Indiana Department of Workforce Development report showed Friday.

The Fort Wayne metropolitan area includes Allen, Whitley and Wells counties. Unemployment in the region also is lower than in February 2011, when the rate was 9.5 percent.

Statewide, seasonally adjusted figures show Indiana also experienced a February dip in joblessness at 8.4 percent, compared to 8.7 percent the previous month.
