Credit card thefts net 2-year sentence

A member of a theft ring was sentenced Thursday in Allen Superior Court to two years in prison and ordered to pay $8,070 in restitution.

Joshua Gaunt, 18, pleaded guilty this month to a single charge of corrupt business influence. He was also sentenced to two years’ probation.

Gaunt was one of a number of people arrested and charged last fall with being part of two separate credit card theft rings.

Also charged in the theft ring are the alleged ringleader, Chanse Starr, 38; Eva Fry, 33; Richard Carter, 41; Samantha Cole; Brandon Hall, 21; and Kaylee Helvie, 18.

The restitution will go to six people and a number of banks and credit card companies, according to court records.
