Jennifer Lawson adopts a Labrador retriever puppy who she will name Castiel during Mega Match-A-Thon sponsored by ASPCA at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control Friday. Adoption fees were $10 for cats and $45 for dogs. People were also able to adopt and take home their pet on the same day. This pet adoption event continues Saturday at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control, 3020 Hillegas Rd., and at HOPE for Animals, 1333 Maycrest Drive, noon -8 p.m.

Friday I went to the Mega Match-A-Thon sponsored by ASPCA at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control. I went at noon, when the event started, thinking that it might be too early in the day to go. I was wrong. About 50 people were lined up at the door of the Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control waiting for the opportunity to adopt a pet.

While I was taking photos of people looking for a dog, one of adoption specialists came in and took a Labrador retriever out of its cage. I followed her to see who was meeting the puppy.

Jennifer Lawson was on the ground with Castiel, the name she is giving him. I sat on the ground to be at the same level and took photos as the two got to know each other. It was a perfect match and Lawson took Castiel home the same day.
