Lake County rallies past TinCaps

Luigi Rodriguez knocked in pinch runner Todd Hankins with a triple in the ninth inning as Lake County rallied to defeat Fort Wayne 4-3 in the season opener Thursday.

The game was played in front of 8,577 fans at Parkview Field, the largest crowd in the park’s history.

Fort Wayne led 3-1 going into the eighth inning. The Captains used two bunt singles, a throwing error and a passed ball to tie the game at 3.

Jarrud Sabourin reached on a fielding error with two outs in the top of the ninth. Hankins then pinch-ran for him. Rodriguez drilled a triple to right field to give the Captains a 4-3 lead.

Jace Peterson had two hits and two RBI for Fort Wayne.
