The March 22 guest column by Alicia Tharp inspired me to use her creation to make something else.
I have been in desperate need of a spring wreath for my door, and I thought her felt bunnies would be a great item to create the wreath around. I must admit, Im still not sure how I feel about the final product. Its busy and colorful, thats for sure.
What you need:
A 12-inch green foam wreath
A 4-yard spool of wide ribbon
Silk flowers (I used hyacinths, carnations and tulips)
Plastic colored eggs
The felt bunnies from the March 22 column (available at www.journalgazette.net/craftyliving)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
What you do:
Be creative (and careful, I dropped a blob of hot glue on my finger and burned myself pretty good).
I decided, after completing this project, to call it Easter egg hunt in the garden. Thats mostly so I can justify how busy it is. I didnt do what I typically do for a project like this, which is lay everything out where I wanted it before placing it on the wreath. So its kind of hodge-podgy.
The first thing you want to do is wrap the ribbon around the wreath and hot glue both ends of the ribbon to the wreath.
Then, start placing flowers, bunnies and eggs where you wish. I placed some bunnies directly on the wreath and used two eggs to hide a couple of the bunnies. When youre done, hang it on your door to greet your guests.
A huge thanks to Alicia for making me a half-dozen of the bunnies for use in this project.
