Fort Wayne picked up its first victory of the season, defeating Lake County 9-3 in front of 2,192 fans Friday at Parkview Field.

Jace Peterson had three hits, scored three runs and knocked in one more.

Here are the highlights.

Key at-bat: Leading 4-2 in the sixth inning, Donavan Tate hit a grounder up the middle. Lake County second baseman Robel Garcia couldn't come up with it cleanly and it bounced into center field. Two runs scored to give the TinCaps a 6-2 lead.

Key out(s): Fort Wayne led 3-2 in the top of the sixth. Lake County had runners on first and second with one out. Relief pitcher John Barbato struck out Garcia and Jerrud Sabourin to get out of the jam.

Punch-out: Five Fort Wayne pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts. Adys Portillo struck out four. Barbato struck out five. Robert Eisenbach had three strikeouts and Matt Stites struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth.
