Colts bolster defense with free-agent tackle

– The Colts signed free-agent defensive tackle Brandon McKinney.

In 61 career games with the San Diego Chargers (2006-07) and Baltimore Ravens (2008-11), the 6-foot-2, 345-pound McKinney had 82 tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

McKinney was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chargers in 2006. He was released in 2008 and was signed by the Ravens four days later.

McKinney was part of a Ravens defense that has ranked third in the NFL in total defense over the last four seasons, giving up an average of 202 yards per game.

Bears add ex-Colts cornerback

The Chicago Bears agreed to a one-year contract with former Colts and Atlanta Falcons cornerback Kelvin Hayden.

Hayden,who appeared in eight games for Atlanta last season, spent six seasons in Indianapolis before that and was part of the 2006 team that beat the Bears in the Super Bowl.

The Bears also agreed to a one-year contract with Jonathan Wilhite.

Teams on notice about draft leaks

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to all 32 teams threatening “significant discipline” to anyone caught leaking confidential information gathered on draft prospects to the public.

In his memo, Goodell stressed that Wonderlic scores, personal and family histories and drug tests are to be kept strictly confidential.
