Keys to the game

Lake County collected 13 hits in a 9-1 win against Fort Wayne on Saturday at Parkview Field.

Here are the highlights.

Key hit: Alex Lavisky hit a two-out, two-run broken bat single in the first inning. It was part of Lake County's four-run first inning.

Rough start: Fort Wayne starting pitcher Joe Ross allowed six earned runs on seven hits in 1 1/3 innings. He struck out one batter and walked three.

Injury report: First baseman Jose Dore had to leave the game in the ninth inning with a left shoulder injury while sliding into second base. Immediately following the game, it was unknown how long he would be out.

"I was going in for a slide. He was going up, so I went down and when I went down my arm got caught a little bit," Dore said.

Dore snapped out of an early slump with three hits in four at-bats.

"It was good to get in a rhythm. I finally felt like I was seeing the ball well and making solid contact. Hopefully I can bounce back (from the injury) and pick up where I left."

Hot start: Jace Peterson went 1 for 3 with a double, his third of the season. Peterson is 6 for 11 to start the year.

"Obviously I didn't have my best stuff. I was leaving the ball up a little bit. I didn't really get hit that hard, they just found some holes. I had a few walks. I'm just looking forward to the next time." - Joe Ross
