Volunteering to put the ‘good’ in Good Friday

Swikar Patel | The Journal Gazette
Students Nash Kaehr, front, 14, Bailey Kaehr, center, 13, and Brandon Schoeneman, 13, work in the courtyard Friday morning at the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission along with 15 other students in sixth through 12th grades. All the students were from Adams Central, except for one from Norwell. Pastor Mike Wertenberger, at the St. Luke Church of Decatur, planned the trip since the kids were on spring break and said he wanted to “put the good in Good Friday.” After volunteering, the group rewarded itself by going go-kart riding.
