No one home during fire

The Fort Wayne Fire Department on Friday responded to a house fire at 505 Catherine Ave. and found heavy smoke coming from the home, a report said.

Firefighters responded to the home just before 9 p.m. and found fire in an exterior wall through the first and second stories and had to do extensive work because the fire was hidden in the wall, according to the report.

The home’s occupants were not home at the time of the fire. One firefighter suffered a cut to his finger and was treated at a medical facility, the report said.
