INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis woman whose home was gutted by a fire is crediting a neighbor with saving her family and most of their pets from the blaze.
Dianne Miller told investigators that neighbor Dustin Butterfield noticed a fire on her front porch and ran to alert her family late Friday night.
WISH-TV reports that Miller’s two sons, ages 10 and four, were asleep in their bedroom and Miller was in the shower.
She says Butterfield made two or three trips into the home, bringing out Miller, her sons, three dogs, one bird and one turtle.
The home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The family’s two chickens did not survive the fire.
