Tressel tours Akron campus, weeks before new job

AKRON, Ohio — Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel is preparing for his new administrative job at Akron by getting reacquainted with a campus that has changed significantly since he earned his master's degree there 35 years ago.

Tressel was forced to resign amid a cash-for-tattoos scandal at Ohio State that toppled the football powerhouse. In May, he starts work as the University of Akron's new vice president of strategic engagement, a position created just for him.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports several student orientation leaders joined Tressel this week for a tour of the campus, where more than $600 million in renovations have been done in the past decade.

In true Tressel fashion, he wore a vest and tie, now with the University of Akron insignia.
