No. 7 Vikings win tournament title

– The Huntington North baseball team capped a successfil trip to Kentucky with a 6-3 win over Southport to win the Ballard (Ky.) Round Robin Tournament on Saturday.

The No. 7 Vikings remain unbeaten at 6-0.

In the win over Southport, Ethan Bartrom was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and Cody Frazier knocked in two runs.

Evan Brown improved to 2-0 by scattering six hits.

CARROLL 3-4, FISHERS 0-5: The two-time defending Class 4A state champion and No. 2 Chargers split a doubleheader on the road.

Peyton Lengacher threw a one-hitter in the first game, while Ross Koble knocked in three runs.

In the second game, Fishers erased a 4-0 fourth-inning deficit to rally for the win.

SOUTH SIDE 10-15, HERITAGE 0-6: Will Coursen-Carr gave up only two hits in the first game as the host Archers swept the doubleheader.

Coursen-Carr (2-0) has yet to give up an earned run in two starts this year. The Indiana recruit also accounted for three doubles in the two games.

Golf

EAST NOBLE INVITATIONAL: Canterbury won the team title with a 315, beating runner-up DeKalb by six strokes at Noble Hawk.

Ethan Brinkman led the Cavaliers with a 76. Angola’s Justin Lomont and Garrett’s Bennett Rieke shared medalist honors with a 74.

Softball

NORWELL 18-11, SOUTHERN WELLS 1-1: Kayla Hanni had six RBI and was the winning pitcher in the first game as the visiting Knights swept the Raiders.

Alissa Hanni had three RBI in the second game.

ADAMS CENTRAL 5, SOUTH ADAMS 4: The Jets were outhit by the Starfires 11-5 but still came up with the home win.

Sammie Baker’s single knocked in Alyssa Keller, who had tripled, to give Adams Central a 5-3 lead in the fifth. Baker was 3 for 3 with two runs scored.
