Did he really think appealing his well-deserved one-year suspension to Roger Goodell, the guy who imposed the suspension to begin with, was going to work?
What, Goodell was suddenly going to have a change of heart? He was going to say something along the lines of "Ya know, doggone it, Sean, you're right. I was a jerk about this. Total overreaction on my part. So I'm going to reverse my ruling even though it will make me look weak-willed and indecisive, which is so not the way a sports commissioner wants to look."
