Out on his ear

So what is it they always say? It's never the act, it's always the coverup?

Bobby Petrino should have known that one, but he didn't, which is why he's out today as Arkansas' football coach.

The 51-year-old Petrino's gone not because of the significant Ewww Factor of his carrying on with a 25-year-old former Arkansas volleyball player, but because he paid her $20,000 and then hired her while misleading (or at the very least, not revealing) his bosses about the nature of their relationship. That's what got him fired.

It's also a lesson learned, or should be, about the perils of dealing with Petrino. Honesty has never been his long suit; he has a history of telling his current employer one thing while cutting a deal with his next employer at the same time. You can ask the Atlanta Falcons about that.

So, in essence, Arkansas reaped what it sowed here. Hard to believe it didn't know what they were getting when they hired him.
